We've had a great week in class 4, I've had great fun reading the 500 word competitions and can't wait to see how many of you get through to the next round. We've had some fantastic fun working out the perimeter and areas of regular squares and rectangles as well as composite shapes.

Next week we have a special visitor on Monday, we have World Book Day (feel free to dress up on the day) as well as lot's more fun is planned learning about New Zealand.

In year 5 we learned about food chains and year 4 had fun investigating pig's hearts!

Half Term

Class 4 have been very busy over this last half term. We have written stories set in New Zealand, play scripts and haiku poems. We have covered many topics in maths including multiplying 2 digit by 2 digit numbers, fractions and decimals.

In science we have been leaning about the body. we have conducted lots of investigations including making poo! We also had a visit from the dental nurse and got to see what our teeth will look like if we don't clean them properly.

We have been extremely fortunate to have Colchester United FC come into school and carry out football coaching sessions, we even had the chance to meet Eddie the Eagle (the mascot).
Homework:
Write an entry for the 500 word competition on radio 2.
Book review in the back of your reading journal.

500 words

This week in class 4 we have been finishing our work on play scripts and looking at multiplication and division. Tomorrow we have a visit from the dental nurse and year 5 will continue our work on the heart.

This weeks homework is to go to the BBC Radio 2 500 words competition website and find as many tips as you can on how to produce a great piece of writing! Leave a comment with advice below to show me that it's been done! (If you are having trouble leaving comments write the tips into your homework book!)

Maths homework is on Abacus and you should have new bug club books tonight! Let me know if you don't and I'll check again for you!
