We've had lots going on this week in class 4, the highlight of which has been yesterday's KS2 assembly! The children were fantastic showing off everything that they had learned! Their Haka was so good that the parents requested, and received, a second showing!
This afternoon we had our Easter bonnet parade and service at the church, the singing was beautiful and the readings and prayers showed the skills at public speaking that so many of our children have!
Easter homework:
Create a poster with everything that you have learned about New Zealand (why not use our blogs to ask the children in NZ for extra ideas).
Find a 5* hotel in Auckland. How much to stay for 1 night?
How about 14 nights? (Show your workings)
Book review in the back of your reading journals.
I hope you all have a fantastic break and come back ready for more, exciting learning.

Our New Zealand link blog
We have now set up a separate blog that you can access through 'Our Classes' tab on the school website or by clicking on here: http://fordhaminnewzealand.blogspot.co.uk/
We will be able to ask questions to the children and staff at Horotiu School in New Zealand through the comments to each post and you can see their school website on the new blog.
Have a look at what you can find out....
Ask the children there some questions in the comments...
Tell them about what you have already learnt about New Zealand......

Inventions and Presentations
This week Class 4 have worked in pairs to create a presentation for the travel agents who are next week coming to judge our competition.
In maths we have been looking at volume and learning how to calculate the volume of shapes. We are also building up to write fantastic newspaper reports, based on our homework from last week.
Our inventions are nearly completed and we can't wait to show them off! We have also started to learn about hockey.
In french, we have been learning and singing the well know song 'Sur le Pont d'Avignon'.
The homework this week is to create a poster for your invention. You will need a drawing, an explanation, a price and a slogan/catchphrase.
Also find out how much it would cost for a family of four to fly to New Zealand and back (flying into Auckland and out of Christchurch).

Haka, World Book Day and more
On Monday we were very lucky to have been visited by Brett from Colchester Rugby Club. Brett, who is from New Zealand, came to our school and taught us about the Haka. We learned about the story, about what it means and then we learned to do the haka dance.
Today (Thursday) is World Book Day, to celebrate we have dressed up as characters from some of our favourite books. We have had an assembly where the teachers talked about their favourite books. The costumes have been fantastic and we have had a lot of fun!
In class we have made a lamb wellington as part of our work on NZ as well as beginning to make our inventions ready for our presentations in a few weeks.
Homework:
Write a newspaper article about Brett's visit. Tell me everything you know about the haka and what we did on the day!
