Christmas Time!

We have come to the end of a brilliant term for Class 4! I am so very proud of everything each child has achieved in our time together since September and can't wait to see the progress we make next term. The children started the week by finishing off their warm tasks for maths and writing. Having marked these and looked back through their books, it is very pleasing to see how far they have come already.

Since getting the hard work out of the way, we have been enjoying some Christmas based lessons and activities. The children have created their own cartoon characters using coordinates, decorated baubles, written Christmas poems, made Christmas board games and much more. On top of all this, we also enjoyed a lovely Christmas party Monday afternoon. Thank you all for the fantastic food items!

Last week the Year 5s joined in with Oaks and Acorns where they made Christmas pompoms with people from the community...

Christmas is Coming

In Class 4 we have been continuing our work on classic fiction in English and have been looking at the different devices and grammar that make a successful story. We have looked at descriptive devices such as: personification, pathetic fallacy, metaphors and how to punctuate and use speech correctly. This will lead us into next week when we will complete a warm write in the form of an adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

Maths is now completely focused on division and the various methods: chucking, short division and long division. Division can be a tricky area but the children are doing extremely well and are working hard to be secure in their chosen method.

Theme is now firmly focused around the Victorians and we have already looked at the Victorian police, Queen Victoria and Christmas decorations...

PE also had a Christmas theme this week as the children took part in a festive mini Olympics...
