Leave a comment with advice below to show me that it's been done! (If you are having trouble leaving comments write the tips into your homework book!)
Maths homework is on Abacus and you should have new bug club books tonight! Let me know if you don't and I'll check again for you!

You don't have to start at the beginning of the story. For example you could start with the end, and then work out how your character reached that ending.
ReplyDeleteGive it a try, get writing and don't worry about plotting it all out before you start. Have fun!
MT
Mr Henderson,I have found out ,on 500 words, that you can be inspired by listening to the sounds around you or by listening to music! I Hope you will read Charlie and the great glass elevator!

DeleteTo start a story you could picture a character in your head and think of what it might be doing. You can think of the characters feelings and other peoples. Think of what the character looks like and its mood.
ReplyDeleteJC
I would picture a green smelly tall alien with a grumpy mind ost
DeleteA great piece of writing will need amazing words, interesting plots and lots of show off characters. CJ
ReplyDeleteThe Randomiser -
ReplyDeleteYou put some words on some post it notes and put in a box/hat/container.
for example, if i pulled out 'alien' 'moon' and 'space'. i would do a story where a boy like me went in a rocket to the moon then he crash landed his rocket on the moon and he met an alien friend who built him another rocket that would take the boy back home again.

From the videos I watched I learnt that you can use pictures, sounds and everyday objects to describe a scene. For example, I was listening to a tape of a flute playing calmly and then I could hear a triangle being played. The scene I would imagine would be a calm wood with the trees swaying from side to side then suddenly, a group of fairies come and play amongst the flowers. These things can inspire writers to express what they imagine.
ReplyDeleteM.R.
At the start of a story you are going to need to describe your character. You are also going to need to give the Reader detail to develop their imagination, maybe pictures in the book could help. If you run out of ideas then listen to the sounds, and note the smells around you to be able to describe things. Sometimes go for it and write what you think, you might get a bad or you might get a good paragraph.(this was the 500 words homework) OST
ReplyDeleteThese are a few tips on how to write a good 500 words competition story.
ReplyDeleteTip 1: It should be fun so make sure you enjoy your writing.
Tip 2: Use objects like a guitar as inspiration.
Tip 3: Use sound as inspiration.
Tip 4: Draw characters or settings for ideas to help you with your story.
Tip 5: Use photos to get ideas as well.
Tip 6: Think of feelings for your characters.
Tip 7: Look around at everyday objects for ideas.
Tip 8: Ask yourself questions. For example, I won a race. How do I feel? Do I feel exhausted or excited? Or both?
Hopefully these tips will help make the 500 words competition fun!
