Haka, World Book Day and more

On Monday we were very lucky to have been visited by Brett from Colchester Rugby Club. Brett, who is from New Zealand, came to our school and taught us about the Haka. We learned about the story, about what it means and then we learned to do the haka dance.

Today (Thursday) is World Book Day, to celebrate we have dressed up as characters from some of our favourite books. We have had an assembly where the teachers talked about their favourite books. The costumes have been fantastic and we have had a lot of fun!

In class we have made a lamb wellington as part of our work on NZ as well as beginning to make our inventions ready for our presentations in a few weeks.

Homework:
Write a newspaper article about Brett's visit. Tell me everything you know about the haka and what we did on the day!
Abacus maths.
Bug Club reading!

  10. The word the is the most frequently used word in the English language. It does not have any real meaning by itself, but it is used as a way of sending a signal about other words. The words that it sends signals about are always nouns.

  11. Adjectives are words that describe or modify another person or thing in the sentence. The Articles — a, an, and the — are adjectives.
