In Class 4 we have been continuing our work on classic fiction in English and have been looking at the different devices and grammar that make a successful story. We have looked at descriptive devices such as: personification, pathetic fallacy, metaphors and how to punctuate and use speech correctly. This will lead us into next week when we will complete a warm write in the form of an adaptation of A Christmas Carol.
Maths is now completely focused on division and the various methods: chucking, short division and long division. Division can be a tricky area but the children are doing extremely well and are working hard to be secure in their chosen method.
Theme is now firmly focused around the Victorians and we have already looked at the Victorian police, Queen Victoria and Christmas decorations...

PE also had a Christmas theme this week as the children took part in a festive mini Olympics...
It was fun making the huge paper chain and all the other Christmas decorations. I enjoyed the mini Olympics because I managed to get under the elf limbo;score a goal in Rudolf's shoot out and got the ball in the bucket three times! JB
ReplyDeleteYou all look way to happy and healthy to pass as Victorian school children.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was at school (not that long ago thank you Grace Face) I used a chucking method in maths. Yours is going to be so much better.
