I have been so impressed with the home learning projects that have been coming in this week.  I have enjoyed that each has been unique and creative in very different ways ranging from beautiful pictures, collages, models to creations with destroyed dog toys!  They really have been fantastic and we were able to display some in our classroom, you can see just a few examples below.  They have also helped us all to write our own set of instructions in English about how we could trap our mythical beast.  Details of the next home learning activity will be coming home on Monday.

A few of our own Greek mythical creatures.
In Science over the last couple of weeks we have been developing our understanding of electrical circuits.  This week our challenge was to use a switch and even try making some switches of our own.  Some of us were very creative in the way we did this and still managed to connect the cirucit to light the bulb!
Making a complete circuit.

Using a dictionary to make a switch!

A pencil pot and paperclips!

Split pins and cardboard!

And finally a clothes peg!

The Year 5 children have enjoyed sharing our theme work this week with the Oaks in our first 'Oaks and Acorns' session.  Together they were set the challenge to create some Greek pottery.  Some chose to draw a vase with all their names written on in the Greek alphabet, others plates with typical Greek designs whilst others even made a 3D version.  It really was lovely to see the interaction and support between everybody working together.

  2. Week three back at school looks like such fun - It's a wonder you find any time to fit in lunch! Is that Kirsty's name written in Greek? It sounds a bit like "cup of tea". . . . .

We are looking forward to the next home learning challenge this week - what will it be?????? Kirsty's mum
