Persuading and Problem solving

After a lovely week last week with iSingPop we have been continuing with very practical learning. The children have finished their radio adverts and have recorded them. I will try to upload these next week. The children did a brilliant job of including persuasive devices, being very expressive and also putting in a lot of creativity. Alongside the radio adverts we have been writing persuasive letters to 'Gobber' from How to Train You dragon to convince him that dragons make bad pets. The children have taken to this unit very well and we will be completing a hot write in the next few weeks.

Maths has been focused on addition and we have been looking closely at mental methods and problem solving...

The children did brilliantly in persevering with the problems.

During theme this week we have been finding out about the gruesome Saxon weregild which documented crimes and their punishments. The children then created their own weregild for Fordham School. The year 4s then looked at the mystery of Sutton Hoo before we start our work on the Vikings next week.

Whilst the year 4s stayed in class, the year fives went to Stanway School for a taster day. Although I only got to see them briefly before the end of the day, they all seemed to enjoy it...

  1. Ah now it all makes sense. We had an impromptu debate at the dinner table whether dragons were good or bad pets and the use of the tomoto ketchup bottle as a judges hammer proved successful.
